In Their Words
What the 2026 Interns Took Away
At the end of the six weeks, every intern filled out an evaluation of their placement. These are their own words, drawn from those forms.
Working closely with critically ill patients gave me time to reflect on my passion for medicine. This experience is irreplaceable, and has allowed me to develop greater sympathy, compassion, and understanding, solidifying patient care as seeing the humanity in each individual, not the numerical value of them.
Alina YangNewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital
This internship has stimulated my interest in the field of medicine because it showed me how much of a family a unit can be. I also see the instantaneous help nurses and healthcare workers provide in real time every day and every hour, which is incredibly inspiring. This was one of the most fulfilling things I have done this summer.
Jenny ChenNewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital
Being able to immediately see my impact on people, whether minor or major, was an extremely rewarding experience. I’m definitely more interested in serving the public and entering similar fields.
Ting ChenCouncil Member Sandra Ung’s Office
Prior to the internship I didn’t know how broad the world of financial consulting was. After shadowing many different employees I got to learn about all the different things that go into consulting, from insurance, investments, budgeting, etc. So grateful for this opportunity. I’ve made amazing memories and met so many people!
Chloe HuangNational Financial Network
Working on a real production codebase with API integration, permission logic, and testing gave me a much clearer sense of what full-stack development work actually involves day to day, beyond coursework.

I was initially scared the dense documents and contracts would deter me from the legal field, but I realized it wasn’t too bad and it was interesting to see every piece come together and culminate in a closing transaction. I know I definitely want to continue exploring the legal field.

Before this internship, I knew very little about radiology. It helped me understand the work of radiologists and radiologic technicians, and I found myself very interested. Everyone is welcoming and supportive. This was a meaningful and hands-on internship.

Being a volunteer at NYPQ was an unforgettably profound and transformative experience in my life. Not only was it educational, but also insightful, as NYPQ was a place that promotes personal and career growth.

Their Advice to Next Year’s Interns
You take out as much as you put in, so definitely put your mind into the work and don’t be afraid to ask questions as there is a lot to learn.
Ashley Liao, Elim GroupTalk to all the employees in your department and get to know what they do. Don’t just stand around waiting for work. Enjoy it, because six weeks goes by rather quickly.
Jonathan Wu, NewYork-Presbyterian QueensLearn to enjoy and appreciate different types of interactions with staff and patients. These interactions will help shape the type of professional you want to be.
Hajin Kim, NewYork-Presbyterian QueensIf they are willing to try new things, work hard, and not be intimidated, it is an extremely rewarding experience that will teach them plenty of new skills.
Aaron Bisono, Mount Sinai
