Purpose of the Program
The Asian American Youth Scholarship was created to give motivated students more than financial support.
Through a selective and structured evaluation process, participants were given the opportunity to:
Present themselves professionally
Each student delivered a formal presentation before a panel of judges and community leaders.
Articulate their career goals
Students spoke to their direction with clarity and confidence, grounded in their own experience.
Meet experienced evaluators
Judges were drawn from CAAF's board and professional partners across several fields.
Be valued for preparation and initiative
The program recognizes character and effort alongside academic achievement.
This approach reflects CAAF's broader commitment to youth development through education, leadership, and opportunity.
Presentation Topics & Prompts
What Students Were Asked to Explore
As part of the evaluation, participants prepared and delivered a formal presentation addressing one of several guided prompts, allowing them to showcase both direction and reflection.
Participants selected from prompts centered on:
- โฃ Identifying a specific career interest and the experiences that led to that choice
- โฃ Exploring personal values and decision-making factors, for students still refining their career direction
- โฃ Discussing an intended area of study and the motivation behind pursuing that field
Across all prompts, students were encouraged to reflect on:
- โฃ Experiences that shaped their goals โ internships, service, leadership, or personal challenges
- โฃ Values and motivations driving their interests
- โฃ How their past experiences connect to their future plans
